The $20 web-plan comparison
OpenAI lists ChatGPT Plus at $20 per month. Anthropic lists Claude Pro at $20 per month on the web, with a $200 annual option. This is a US-dollar list-price comparison of two individual web subscriptions, not a claim that their features, quotas or tax treatment are equivalent.
OpenAI and Anthropic both say API usage is separate from these chat subscriptions. If you are comparing API workloads, use the vendors’ current API price pages instead of the App Store country matrix.

Claude Max is a separate price tier
Anthropic’s individual web guide lists Max 5x at $100/month and Max 20x at $200/month. The usage labels are specific to Claude and should not be interpreted as matching a ChatGPT plan with the same name or dollar value.
Our country pages show Claude App Store prices only. We do not have a comparable verified ChatGPT country-by-country store dataset, so this article does not claim one service is globally cheaper.

Storefront and tax can change the result
A Claude App Store subscription can have a different list price from the web. Google Play’s public in-app purchase range does not identify the monthly plan. Each vendor’s checkout and applicable taxes determine what a particular buyer pays.
