Use a device you manage
Check the current operating-system requirements in the official Claude Code setup guide. Keep your operating system, browser and terminal tools updated, and work only in projects you are authorized to access. The device clock and time zone should reflect your actual location; incorrect time can also disrupt ordinary sign-in or certificate connections.
Anthropic has not published a device-fingerprint “safety score.” Do not run credential-deletion or machine-ID rotation scripts to respond to an account restriction.
Authorization and local permissions
Complete the official browser authorization with your own account. Review file, command and directory permissions requested in the terminal and grant only what your work needs. Never share a password, one-time code, OAuth callback URL or API key with a remote helper.
If you change computers, use the normal installation and sign-in flow. A restricted account still needs the official review path.
