Email and sign-in
Use an email address you can access long term and keep sign-in messages and receipts. Check spelling, spam folders and the browser authorization screen. Do not forward magic links or one-time codes to someone else. A custom email domain has no published Anthropic “anti-ban weight.”
For Team or Enterprise access, follow your organization administrator’s permissions and email policy. A generic login error differs from an account ban. See official support for sign-in help and the appeal guide for a restriction notice.
Phone verification
Anthropic’s phone article requires a text-capable number from a supported location and says users must actually be in a supported location. It excludes VoIP, Google Voice, app-generated numbers and landlines. Temporary SMS services and borrowed identities are not substitutes.
If the code does not arrive, check the country code and number, wait and retry according to the prompt. If the error persists, record it and contact official support rather than buying a “verified” number.
Region, billing and identity checks
Check phone location, actual location, account information and payment details against each official requirement. A supported region is distinct from a storefront price region. Billing guidance is on our payment page; an official identity prompt belongs to the Persona flow.
Frequently asked questions
Can I verify Claude with a VoIP or temporary SMS number?
Anthropic says VoIP, Google Voice, app-generated and other unsupported number types cannot be used; it also requires physical presence in a supported location.
What if my Claude verification SMS does not arrive?
Check the number and country code, follow the retry prompt, then contact official support if it persists.
Does a custom email domain prevent a Claude ban?
Anthropic has not published such an email-domain safety score. Use an address you control and follow account rules.
