Claude residential IP and home ISP basics

A network literacy guide for normal troubleshooting, without proxy sales or claims that an IP type prevents account restrictions.

Updated 中文版

Home ISP versus data-center networks

A home or residential connection generally comes from an internet service provider serving consumers. A data-center address generally belongs to cloud or hosted infrastructure. Public IP databases may classify an ASN or operator, but those labels are not Anthropic’s published account risk score and can be incomplete.

No official source says buying a residential IP guarantees account access. Eligibility still depends on supported locations and service rules. See our region guide.

DNS, WebRTC and time zone

DNS resolves domain names; WebRTC supports real-time browser connections. Both can matter during ordinary network troubleshooting, but Anthropic has not published a “DNS/WebRTC leak means ban” test. Let the system time zone reflect your actual location rather than changing it to appear elsewhere.

If the sign-in page fails, check general connectivity, browser updates and system time, then consult Claude status. Save the exact error for official support. Avoid unrelated fingerprint or proxy changes suggested by vendor blogs.

When access is restricted

An IP lookup cannot distinguish a network outage, unsupported location and account suspension. For a region message, check official availability. For “Your account has been disabled,” use the appeal guide and official account screen rather than a “residential IP unban” seller.

Frequently asked questions

Does Claude require a residential IP?

Anthropic has not published a blanket requirement for a home ISP IP. Follow the actual account prompt and supported-location rules.

Can a home IP prevent my Claude account from being banned?

No. Network origin is not a guarantee of account eligibility or safety.

Does a WebRTC leak automatically ban Claude accounts?

Anthropic has not published such a rule. Use the exact official error and service status when troubleshooting.
